TacSat Overview

The TacSat unit is a rapid deployable emergency communications framework used to assist emergency response units and provide system infrastructure. TacSat is a modular system, with each module consisting of self contained units for easy transport and deployment. Designed for rapid response, TacSat also performs as a short and long-term replacement for communications infrastructure.

Modules

The TacSat core system consists of the following modules. These modules are expandable and more can be added on-the-fly. Many of the TacSat modules are designed to be plug-and-play within the TacSat system.

SatLink - Backhaul communications module

The SatLink module is the lifeline to the real world. By providing a robust satellite network connection to the TacSat system, the SatLink module provides Internet access, Voice/Telephone communications, and Fax/Data capabilities. The SatLink can provide the TacSat system with network speeds of up to 10mbps down / 2mbps up.

MiSC - Mesh Integrated System Controller

The MISC module is the brain of the TacSat Emergency LAN (TLAN) Network. The MiSC provides the network management and control over the Mesh-Enabled TLAN.

TLAN - Tactical Local Area Network

The TLAN is the backbone of the TacSat network. Harnessing the power of Mesh Enabled Architecture, each device within the TacSat TLAN makes the network more robust. The TLAN is a self-healing, self-replicating network that is rapidly deployable.

Wi-Fi - Legacy Network

The Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) legacy network is provided to connect end user devices to the TLAN. The TacSat system includes end user devices (laptops, PDAs etc.) which connect directly to the TLAN, so a wi-fi network is provided to allow other devices not within the TacSat system to connect.

vTac - Video Communications

The vTac module enables users within the TacSat network to communicate visually. By providing a conference server, users in remote locations can video conference with incident commanders, allowing them to survey situations, as well as share documentation and other files.

vTacRemote - Remote Surveillance

The TacSat system includes several remote surveillance modules, which allow the incident commander and other users within the network to view remote locations.
